SYNOPSIS Nosferatu:
“Nosferatu” weaves a chilling narrative centered on obsession, chronicling the experiences of a tormented young woman and a terrifying vampire who becomes infatuated with her, resulting in a cascade of terror.
This forthcoming American gothic horror film, helmed by Robert Eggers, features Bill Skarsgård in the titular role of the legendary vampire. It represents a contemporary adaptation of the 1922 German Expressionist masterpiece, which itself is a reinterpretation of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” published in 1897, and follows the 1979 film “Nosferatu the Vampyre” as its second remake.
The project was initiated in 2015 following Eggers’ debut with “The Witch.” Although it was initially planned as his subsequent project, Eggers opted to direct “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman,” leading to a delay in “Nosferatu.” Anya Taylor-Joy was originally cast but departed due to scheduling conflicts. In September 2022, Bill Skarsgård and Lily-Rose Depp were confirmed as the leads, with Nicholas Hoult joining shortly thereafter, and the complete cast finalized in early 2023. Principal photography predominantly occurred in Prague from February to May 2023.
